Just wondering who else from the forum is attending either the Around The Block For Brock or the GTR & XU-1s on the Mountain 2022 to celebrate 50 years since Brocks win in a XU1 that are being held at Bathurst this year?

I'm taking my car to the GTR & XU-1s on the Mountain part of the event.

It'd be good to put some faces to names from this forum :)

He seems like an 'interesting' character.

I'm kind of looking froward to meeting him now to see for myself

I'll be there Matt. Definitely not looking forward to the fuel bill.

Todd Martin is a good bloke.  He's done a lot for our club and for the little Toranas. He organised one of the most memorable events the GTR and XU-1 guys have ever experienced. 100 plus cars driving around Bathurst before the race in 2002. Those that missed out in 2012 blame Todd but I'm sure it was out of his control.

Don't let the guys on here tell you otherwise.  :D

Marty from Perth

Hi Skap,

Before I answer that. - Which sentence are you asking about?

1. Todd Martin is a good bloke.

2. He's done a lot for our club and for the little Toranas.

3. He organised one of the most memorable events the GTR and XU-1 guys have ever experienced. 100 plus cars driving around Bathurst before the race in 2002.

4. Those that missed out in 2012 blame Todd but I'm sure it was out of his control.

5. Don't let the guys on here tell you otherwise.   :D

The one he tried to pass his car off as the real deal Brock car when we and many others know it was BS

Johnno busted him though  :)

Don't forget he also forged Harry Firth's signature and he faked up an original NOS LC Torana log book to go with the fake car.

A 1971 print edition log book that did not exist when a 9/70 LC Torana was made and sold.

Mr Martin lives in QLD so under QLD laws the way I read it he could potentially face 3 years imprisonment if the QLD police were to persue him over the fake log book.

Queensland Criminal Code 1899 - SECT 488

Forgery and uttering

(1) A person who, with intent to defraud -

     (a. Forges a document; or

     (b. utters a forged document;

     commits a crime.

Penalty -

Maximum penalty -

(a. If the document is a valuable security, insurance policy, testamentary instrument (whether the testator is living or dead) or registration document or is evidence of an interest in land - 14 years imprisonment; or

(b.  If the document is a power of attorney, contract or document kept or issued by lawful authority other than a document mentioned in paragraph (a) - 7 years imprisonment; or

(c. otherwise - 3 years imprisonment.

(2) Subsection (1) applies whether or not the document is complete and even though it is not, or does not purport to be, binding in law.

Is there any chance he genuinely thought he had the Brock car? Then made a log book to match car and advertised it at Car Shows as the Brock car without knowing the truth?

Or did he buy a car and think I'm going to make this look like the Brock car and tell everyone it is.

Since he has been informed of the true identity of the car has he stopped calling/displaying it as the Brock car?

I'm just trying to think what was going through his head?

Many people have thought they have a car that is not what they think. They display it as an XU-1 when its a GTR or S. This can easily happen with no fault of their own.

Im sure some would agree with me  :)

Even if he genuinely thought it was the car, there is no excuse for forging signatures and faking log books.

I thought you were a bit smarter mate...

I'm not very smart but feel I'm honest with good ethics and I like to have a go at stuff.

Might have to rename this thread if it keeps going in this direction. Sorry Gatti.

Agree, he knew the Yellow Dolly XU1 he bought that was parked beside a chook shed on a property in Queensland was nothing special.

He also made up a whole heap of bullshit about the car and put it on a sandwich board to display alongside the car at shows.
