That would take some serious cutting and grinding.
Another K Frame is the best fix but hard to find a good one the same style as yours. or cut and weld them on off a buggered K Frame like the one I gave away.

Looks to me like your crossmember never had the compression bump stops fitted to the spring towers which would make it a 1969 or early 1970 LC crossmember.

Thanks Spack,It does have a replacement front end but LJ wishbones mate. Is there anything else on an LC frame that would indicate its an LC and not an LJ.Ta
Can you post up a pic of the brake pipe bracket on your xmember? The one circled in red in this pic.

Some track cars have that bump stop tower removed. I dont know why. My thinking is only that with say 950lb front springs and comp. shocks, that the bump stop would never see any action, so may as well save a kg or two?.
I think it was to allow more suspension travel but I could be wrong.

Best i have in my phone mate
No worries mate. At the end of the day Marty has already hit the nail on the head. Either replace the complete xmember or rob the stops from another spare.

Definitely looking like replacing the cross member will be the go.It has been on the road for 2 years with no problems so do I need the stops
One day you may find a piece of road that will make you wish you had the compression bumps stops.
Removing the bump stops may be ok for a race car but I suspect not the best idea for a street car that needs to be able to handle really shitty roads from time to time.

I dont reckon it would pass inspection without them..you have to have clearance between coils at full bump. One day you may find a piece of road that will make you wish you had the compression bumps stops.

1 would hope it would have already failed the inspection & not been able to get registered to be honest.

You can't have hit any decent bumps yet.
I made the mistake years ago putting an early LC set up in an LJ. With lowered springs on any half decent bump the springs would completely compress with a loud bang and the car would buck.
Changed the cross member as soon as I realised.
