Here is my HQ Monaro, it was purchased in July 2007 from a lady who husband had passed away, the car had been sitting in a shed close to 10yrs.
This was it when I first got it:

Shortly after I went about a small make over between July 2007 and November 2007 I did the following:
Removed engine, pulled engine apart, checked everything then put it back together after cleaning it up replacing most bolt on parts, ie. water pump, manifold, extractors etc...
Here is some pics of engine as it went in:

At this point I was mainly focused on getting the engine running and cleaned up to look half decent, however there were some other areas requiring immediate attention.
The passenger side guard had been repaired some years earlier and the repair and bog had started to lift, so the guard was striped and repaired:

The engine bay was also a bit 80's with chrome inner guards so these were prepped and painted black as well:

Other than those bits of panel work the car was simply given a buff and polish and the paint was passable for a street car.. Good from afar but far from good, at the time I didn't have the money for a full paint and rust repair so it stayed as is, there was some small bubbles in usual areas and the worse rust was in rear guards not visible unless really looking for it so was happy at that stage.
The interior was terrible, I had limited money so I pulled the interior out and rust proofed the floor, I then put some old coupe seats that came with it in and threw seat covers on, nothing else interior wise was touched, and it looked shocking

By that stage the money had run out but I had managed to get it into a semi presentable state that was drivable which consisted of:
383 Stroker engine
T400 gearbox
3.55 LSD
Holley Blue fuel pump & braided line
MSD ignition
Pro Star wheels
twin 3" mandrel bent exhaust
The exhaust was a 2.5" press bent system so was replaced, wheels were polished as was bumpers and car cut and polished, new Holley blue pump installed as old one perished from sitting and the car ended up like:

At that stage I was happy with the car besides some fuel system issues and the diff centre breaking.. However I was low on money and after being defected about 6 months later I was broke and over the whole thing...
The car then sat in the shed as I sold off the Pro Star wheels and lost interest, I put GTS wheels on to at least move it if I needed..
Fast forward to July 2008 and I had a relationship breakup, I had to move the car from where it was stored and with this sparked some small changes...

The car was taken to my mates workshop where I decided to release some relationship breakup frustrations and get the car back on the road or at least redo the fuel system, diff and some other odds and ends so I could go racing in September 2008 in banaraby for the nostalgics...
On the list to be purchased and installed were:
tru-track diff centre
4.11 Richmond gears
Sump and baffle fuel tank
magnafuel prostar 500 pump
Gauges
Pro stock bonnet scoop
We set about doing the above and some other small things giving ourselves only a few weeks

Everything was installed and the bonnet was painted car was ready to race:

We towed the car from Brisbane and for the first time in a few years had some fun with the car:

I had fun and was around this time I again ran out of money, I also started a new relationship and houses, daily drivers and a baby got in the way...
The car sat pretty much in this state from October 2008 until July 2012.
The car was started occasionally but for the most left to gather dust in the shed looking sorry for itself...
Fast forward to July 2012 after sitting for nearly 4 years I decided to give the paint and panel a make over as well as the interior for my wedding in November 2012.
The car was taken to the panel shop to be striped, rust repaired then reassembled

Whilst being painted I sold the pro stock scoop and had a reverse cowl scoop moulded to my bonnet the car came from the panel shop looking like:

Car was picked up September 2012 looking like:
Picked car up today...
John at affordable body works has done a great job!
Still have alot to do, some chrome back on and alot of cleaning and interior but here it is after being painted:

While I got the car painted I purchased an interior kit from eBay to redo my seats
https://cache.gmh-torana.com.au/i16.photobucket.com/albums/b38/njectme/seat_2.jpg
https://cache.gmh-torana.com.au/i16.photobucket.com/albums/b38/njectme/seat_3.jpg
As you can see seats were absolutely disgusting and would let the car down with the new paint
So I striped the old covers off then replaced them with new ones
https://cache.gmh-torana.com.au/i355.photobucket.com/albums/r446/PRO080/40B739E1-589F-4BC7-9E9C-44A76EA7AA7C-550-000000AB5EFEE3E4.jpg

At this point I also installed a fuel cell and twin thermo fan setup to keep the car running cool and plenty of fuel
I also took the opera unity to clean up some wiring as well as move some gauges inside the car
https://cache.gmh-torana.com.au/i16.photobucket.com/albums/b38/njectme/photo4.jpg
From here the car was almost finished just needed some last minute things and a final buff
https://cache.gmh-torana.com.au/i16.photobucket.com/albums/b38/njectme/monaro_build71.jpg
The last things to do we're fluid changes, final buff and redwall tyres, and some rear resonators for exhaust
https://cache.gmh-torana.com.au/i16.photobucket.com/albums/b38/njectme/image-13.jpg
https://cache.gmh-torana.com.au/i16.photobucket.com/albums/b38/njectme/image-5.jpg

https://cache.gmh-torana.com.au/i16.photobucket.com/albums/b38/njectme/image-11.jpg
Then the car was completed in November 2012 for my wedding
https://cache.gmh-torana.com.au/i16.photobucket.com/albums/b38/njectme/photo1-2.jpg
https://cache.gmh-torana.com.au/i16.photobucket.com/albums/b38/njectme/photo4-1.jpg
https://cache.gmh-torana.com.au/i16.photobucket.com/albums/b38/njectme/7a40f04cce21305e2f1640fc151cc4bc.jpg
The wedding was the first drive in 4 years and the car ran great I've since run it about 200km to a show and some cruising there is a slight problem with a sticky calliper and gear box leak but other than that its been great
https://cache.gmh-torana.com.au/i355.photobucket.com/albums/r446/PRO080/93FD8EF3-CC26-4CA5-BC41-0B114B21F173-2324-00000243BA7EE7C8.jpg
https://cache.gmh-torana.com.au/i16.photobucket.com/albums/b38/njectme/10b5aa45c3e21f7b01f137f16775fd4b.jpg
https://cache.gmh-torana.com.au/i16.photobucket.com/albums/b38/njectme/DSC_0316_zpsf444e8fd.jpg
And that brings me up to date, the future plans for this car is to tidy up the few things I didn't have time for before the wedding, new door trims, clean and redo engine bay to bring it up to standard of rest of car and drive the wheels off it
