Here is a pic of the one i plan to fit to my SL/R including a rear shot showing the dual wire/single speaker plug.
I wonder if your's is an 8 transistor as i've never actualy seen one, or maybe it is from another car but with Torana controls fitted to it. Have you trial fitted it to your car to see if it fits?

The radio you show has numbers 5,7,8,10,12,14,16
The other radio is 5,6,8,10,12,14, and it has psuh buttons.
I believe the radio you show is incorrect. The Radio Matt shows is correct.
You definitely need a CHIEF in your dash Brad. Just make sure your das wears the right Cheif !!!!!!!!!!

Strictly speaking Air Chief is not a manufacturer of car radios, it's just the name that GM-H applied to radios that they authorised as being factory accessories. The original manufacturer of Air Chief car radios was REI, which became Astor sometime in the 60s & was in turn bought out by Phillips in the early 70s.

I believe those two radios are correct for both LH & HJ series Holdens. The only difference is the knobs , the Torana ones are pictured. The first one is the basic 'manual' version & the second one is the Deluxe push-button version. I think the manual one had 8 transistors & the push-button had either 11 or 13.

Just like the LJ & HQ radios, the LH Air Chief radio was available in 4 different models:-
8 Transistor - manual tuning only.
11 Transistor - manual tuning only.
11 Transistor - push button.
13 Transistor - push button.
As Dr. Terry said, the Air Chief and Air Ranger radios for our beloved Torana's (and 70's Holdens) were made by Phillips.

Do you still have any of those shaft nuts for sale Arrimar?
If the LH radio only has the one headphone style speaker plug with two wires, how does it power the optional rear speakers?

The HQ advertising below shows the exact aerial (including the grey lead) that I have just removed from my L34, so they were still in service for LH Torana.
