Hi, just wondering what the majority feel about painting new rotors before installing? And if yes should you avoid where pad contacts rotors? Thanks in advance. Cheers Ron

Clean using brake cleaner
I found it best to sit the rotor on a sheet of paper, hub up. A nice night to work at.....I.e. not on the ground.
Cut a disk out of cardboard slightly larger than rotor diameter.
Cut a hole in it to fit over the hub.
Sit over the rotor and weight down.
Paint hub, and then the external diameter.
For disk brake rotors, mask the wheel stud holes from inside to avoid paint on the inside brake shoe surface.
If you do get some over spray, some brake cleaner on a rag can be used.
I’ve done a few. I found that the red takes forever to dry, Black not so much.
Just make sure you have time on your hands.

Reckon you can paint em Ron....reminds me of an interesting day in very big Western Sydney tyre place, when I went to get some tires fitted. A price so good that I drove from Newcastle to get them. VR Commodore.
You can insert the appropriate accent to the following -
Them - You need to get a wheel alignment too mate.
Me- Im good thanks, the old tyres were worn evenly.
Them - no, if you dont get an alignment, the tires will be stuffed when you get home.
Me - what? in 140km?
Them - yep.
Me - no, its ok, I'll wing it thanks.
Wait 5 minutes
Them - hey mate , we need to paint your rotors.
Me- why?
Them - if we dont, they will warp
Me - seriously? gee whizz, how much?
Them - $99?
Me- what colour?
Them - we are the only place in Sydney with all the good colours
Them- you want?
Me - no thanks.
....and so on.
I noticed on the way out that the waiting room was full of mums with kids and old blokes etc.
I wonder how many they skinned.?
So yes..I have it on EXPERT authority that rotors can be done.

Thanks guys. Appreciate the responses and advice. Tony, I like the look of yours and that is what I am looking to do. Surprisingly there are a few youtube videos where they are painting the whole rotor, which is why I posed that question, and I thought it wasn't the right thing to do. Cheers Ron

Col 😂😂😂
There must be only a very thin coating on them
just to prevent rusting once made.

be careful of painting the interface between the hub and the disc as this will cause issues with runout - i would not paint or if at all - just a light coat and away from the mating surfaces that hold the disc- been there and made that mistake
