Only that it's from an LJ GTR. 202 Block. (Not XU1)
Not necessarily. The 3300 (JL) was optional for both S & SL models in 1973. it was a not exclusively GTR in that year.
The 372066 will give a time frame for the engine.

Hi
Mid July 1973. I doubt that this engine was fitted to a GTR.

I'd be leaning towards a late July or sometime in August. My JL 363--- is from my late July Adelaide built car.
It should be on the vin disc anyway.
Hi
Not all engine numbers appear on the VIN disc. I found JL372067. It was fitted to an S Model 2 door in Bris on 20/7/73. The engine numbers can be quite random - they were not necessarily installed in the same order that they were received from the engine plant.

Hi
There are 18 or 20 JL engine numbers around that 9/73 period commencing with JL2xxxxx. Typically this range of numbers was in use in early 1973. I wonder if they accidentally stamped up some with a "2" instead of a "3"? It would be interesting to see what cast date they had.

27F3 = 27 June 1973.
As the others have said, engine numbers are quite random.
Look it the logistics. The engines come from the engine plant on pallets, already in mixed number order. The forklift loads the first pallet off the line onto the truck & the pallets are then mixed again. At the assembly plant they are stacked in a storage area, where the first units in become the last units out. Depending on their turnover, 2 consecutive engine numbers could appear in 2 cars built weeks or even months apart.
