Hi Guys,
New to the forum, couldn't find much info on this topic so I thought I would share my experience to help others hopefully.
I had a M20 Muncie in my LH with a 355 a 9 inch, I was going to refresh the original Muncie but thought I might on-sell the original at a later date and upgrade to M22Z brand new box from America.
Fitted the box last weekend, no dramas and this weekend we will be fitting the repro console. I did a bit of a dummy fit and it looks promising.
3 things we had to do was, bash the tunnel around the linkage area, not a lot was needed.
Cut a little section of the tunnel out to let the shifter have a bit of room.
I will have to bend the little circle bit at the end of the shifter boot to an oval shape to fit the Hurst shifter handle.
The shifter I ended up with was a Hurst Comp Plus, PN 391-8014 and the linkage kit was PN 373-8611.
I asked the guy in the USA to source a shifter that locates as far in the middle of the box as possible and at the right distance back from the bell housing to come through the existing shifter hole.
I have a straight 8 inch shifter on it now and it fits perfect.
I'm happy to share the customs, import duty, cost, order and wait time details or why I didn't go fot the Tremec if it helps anyone. I'm no expert but just having part numbers would have helped me heaps, so hopefully this helps someone.
All in all was very positive. Considering what you would pay for a fresh rebuilt one off ebay, a brand new import was almost exactly the same price. might be a little more now because off the exchange rate.
Cant beat that sound of the old school Rockcrushers, I think these new ones are a little quieter due to the tighter tolerances these days.
Any questions, hit me up here.
I will post some picks after the weekend to better explain.
Matt.
