Have a low mileage HP motor i picked up from a mate and I've been collecting a few bits off Gumtree to throw together a warm street combo for my FB ute. I am sticking with the three speed crash box as the floor is too good to cut and I want to have original floor covering. Currently has the 3.89:1 diff but will no doubt go taller depending what comes along. I do have a few 3.08:1 centres lying around in varying condition and will try and run as tall tyres as I can.
Parts I have accumulated are WW carb from a 253 HQ manual, on factory WW manifold, X2 headers, 186S headers, 6° Bosch electronic dizzy. Original head just needs a lap or I have a stage 1 YT spec 202 head I picked up. Non adjustable rockers, double (dampeners) springs, big inlet valves, port and post job.
Picked up an unused Dynotec CM205D cam for $100. I am thinking to use this cam with the worked head but concerned the lift may be a bit taxing. Advertised at 429. I really wanted something a bit milder like a torque economy grind just for a bit of a lopey idle. Something that would work with the stock head even.
Any advice gratefully accepted red six gurus.
Cheers
Clay

Search google for old johnno.
You will quickly find his hot 6 bible.
Follow its instructions and you wont go wrong.

According to old Jonno’s specs my cam is right in between a mild street cam and slightly warmer with lumpy idle. My main concern is coil bind at 0.429” lift. I hope the modified head has had longer springs installed with seats lowered and/ or offset retainers. I suppose I should be able to compare to my standard head. Ultimately I will dummy assemble and turn by hand I suppose.
