Hi forum members.
I've just installed my 308 with a new engine bay wiring harness. I got the harness from All Auto Recreations, because they have a harness that gives you full 12 volts for my Bosch electronic ignition. And it looks very neat and tidy. Fully recommend them with top prompt customer service, and a excellent product.
Now for my question. When I turn the key to start, the engine runs beautifully. But as soon as I release key, it shuts engine off completely. I suspect it's just the ignition switch that needs to be adjusted forwards or backwards. Anybody else dealt with this issue before?

It sounds exactly like the symptoms of a car with a burnt out ballast resistor. I know you don’t have one but it’ll be the same basic thing, you are getting 12V to the coil in the start position but not in the run position. It may just be a bridge missing at the ignition switch.

All sorted. The new wire clip was not correctly seated into the plug, that sits on the ignition switch. Operator error
