Converting To Manual from Trimatic
What is needed to be done.....and what is best Gearbox to place in a LC....
do i need to get a new Tailshaft and flywheel....all i have now is a Trimatic......
Really want a Manual would rather 5 Speed.....
I know i need Clutch Linkage, Clutch, Clutch Pedal....?????

If you go Celica/Supra 5 speed, you need Bellhousing, Xmember, tailshaft.
Not sure about early commo 5 speeds...

Upper Sturt Wreckers had complete set up bolted to 186 last time I was there, about a month. Including hydraulic clutch.
wasn't dear either.

To convert a Trimatic to a M20 (Aussie Four Speed) you need:
-manual spigot bush (goes in end of crank)
-flywheel
-clutch (you can use a Commodore clutch, cable clutch is easiest)
-bellhousing (red motor - M20)
-gearbox
-standard tailshaft will fit (they are the same for trimatic and M20 in LC/Js)
-manual pedal set (if you use the sandard pedals simply remove the auto brake pedal and replace it with a brake and clutch pedals)
To convert a Trimatic to a Celica five speed you need:
-manual spigot bush (goes in end of crank) (Special CRS or Dellow part)
-flywheel
-clutch (you need to have a Celica clutch plate or equivlent Toyota clutch plate and same sized preasure plate for a commodore or Torana, cable clutch is easiest)
-bellhousing (red motor - Celica 5 speed) (Special CRS or Dellow part)
-gearbox
-tailshaft must be shortened (measure from the back of the gear box to diff yoke, and give that measurement to a tailshaft place and your tailshaft and they will do the rest)
-manual pedal set ((if you use the sandard pedals simply remove the auto brake pedal and replace it with a brake and clutch pedals)
I have done both of these conversions (Trimatic -> M20 -> Celica 5 speed)
If your running a 3.08 diff it would be eaiser to go with the M20, but if you want to go shorter (3.36 or 3.55 or even 3.9) Celica would be best. It all depends on what you use the car for.
M20 is a good box, but the shifters need to be treated with respect. Celica is a much nicer and easier box to use, but costs more and weights more.
