Gday all. Ive been offered a pair of recaro bucket seats at a very good price and as my front seats are completely stuffed im considering grabing the recaro's. Unfortunately the recaro's are a light brown in colour and the interior in the car is black. Is there any way I can change the colour of the seats to black, eg using a dye or a vinyl type paint. They are covered in a material and not vinyl. Cheers Steve.

You can. I've had good results with vinyl, not sure how fabric comes out.

Fabric must be absolutely clean and dry, any stains will dye to a different colour, spray a couple of light coats then brush it in, let it dry, repeat the process; brushing each time until you reach the colour depth desired. Work on one area at a time, i.e. seat bottom or seat back so you can brush it in before it dries.
Keep in mind dying will not make old fabric look new, only a different colour; old fabric will always look like old fabric.

thanks steve for the link. the seats are in quite good condition with only a couple of light marks on them. I guess a good clean and dry then see what happens with the paint. I can allways put some seat covers over them. Cheers

Yep, you don't want to ruin a good set of Recaros.
You may want to do a test run on a section out of sight to see if it comes up okay.

I changed the grey inserts to red with spray dye on mine:
edit: depending on the fabric working the dye in with a brush can be useful
