Hey all, just wondering what peoples experiences have been with aftermarket new chrome bumper bars? I see Rare spares, Resto Country and Muscle car parts sell new ones... How is the fit and quality of the chrome? does it last for years without pitting and going rusty?

I've got Rare Spares LJ bumpers & they've started to show rust spots after 4 years parked in a shed. No clue if the LH bumpers would be any better.

Mr Sheen helps keeping cheap chrome work looking good.
I have a Harley, and the chrome work leaves a lot to be desired.
I purposely bought a model with the least amount of chrome possible because of others experiences.
There are probably other products that work just as well.
But a wipe over with Mr Sheen keeps the chrome looking new.
Stops the nasties getting in to start the rust.

How long have you had them on Fli304? are they very straight and the chrome look very good when they are new at least?

I remember taking mine to rare spares, double swage and re-chromed. When I went to collect them, they had not polished out the marks on the bottom part of the bumpers. I explained this to them and there reply, why didn't you tell us its a show car. My reply, its not a show car. Its my car.

What is the lower bar edge tange hole shape meant to be on factory original LC LJ bumper bars?
First pic, rear LJ bar, hole tapered shape.
Second Pic, front LJ bar, again hole tapered.

Bought a repro LH one the other day. Fitted great with a new bolt kit. Lets see how it holds up. Painted the inside with rustguard.

See attached. The hole with the rust around it is front bumper. My bars I believe to be original as they were covered in green slime corrosion when I purchased the car. Spent an hour with Autosol to bring them up.

They look ok? If I was to be super picky the smaller end is not as small as mine and it appears to be a larger square surrounding the key hole? but could be just the photo angle

They both look like they have had washers tightened up against them.

The repro bars do look to have had something bolted to them. Which has effected the finish at the tanges, i can only assume they may have been attached to a jig during their plating/ polishing processes.
That will probably be the beginning point of surface rust.
Attached again are know repro lc lj bar tanges.
