G'day All
Thought that I would put up some pictures from the Newman Drags on the weekend. Newman is approx 1200kms north of Perth and the drags are an annual event held on the airport runway.
My wife and I and the kids drove across from Paraburdoo (approx 350kms) and had a really great weekend. My wife took out 3rd place in the ladies and although I got knocked out in the first eliminations(by the white XY ute you will see in the pics) we managed to put down 10 runs between us and drive the car home on Sunday.
The car went pretty well, the only hiccup was the engine missing(problem with the carby I'm pretty sure) a couple of times. In all a great weekend.
Anyway enjoy the pics
Cheers

Gee those shots bring back some good memories for me. You see I worked at Mt Newman during the late 60's I was a leading hand carpenter up there, we built some temp accomodation for the American Engineers. The area was MEN ONLY in those days, we were accomodated in stinking little nissan huts, I will never forget the humidity. And from memory I think we were only allowed to work 4 hrs per day in the sun, the rest of the day had to be worked in the shade.
Great memories and so good to see it has a dragstrip.
Cheers

Check this out. Not too sure how this will work out but the old girl(the car not the missus) made the back page of the North West Telegraph. Pitty I'm getting beaten, but hey - thats racing.

I really wanted to get there this year, but a friend of ours was expecting their second bub about that time. I had to leave myself open to babysit their first when she went into labour. Hopefully my torrie is finished in time to get there for next year
