Hi Chaos, I asked the HWP bloke who helped change a tyre the other day, - he said the Mustangs had failed the "hard driving"" test. ( apparently the brake issues were fixable, but there were other issues, didnt say what)
Thus it was now between the Chrysler 300 and some sort of turbo Volvo.

Not sure if petrol or diesel, but these are already a dime-a-dozen up this way. Some 2WD's around but mostly 4WD.They would be crazy not to consider Toyota Hilux V6 petrol auto.

Had a discussion with a member of Vic HWP at a local show about 2 weeks ago. He is based in Benalla, therefore Hume Hwy is his turf. His thoughts are that Commodores will be available to them for about 2 years, the brass is no doubt looking at a variety of vehicles, but given Vic Police pursuit policy these days the criteria that is important is 0-100 KPH in 6 seconds, if someone wants to do a runner they spike them or shadow them with a chopper these days. The days of long high speed pursuits are behind them he said. The Mustang had issues with overheating transmissions when flogged hard, no doubt easily fixed, but "out of the box" failed the tests. I suggested a Ford RS Focus like the one I recently bought would be handy ( yeah, Ford, I know) 0-100 in 4.7 secs, top speed 266 kph, standing 1/4 mile 13.2 secs would be usefull, but as he said, big burly coppers in a smallish car could be a problem. He did ask for a drive though !!

HSV were supposed to get the Camaro.

From what I heard of the Mustang, the transmission overheated?
I agree Holden should just ignore Detroit and keep working, that would be the Aussie thing to do

The government should buy the Holden nametag off GM and just take all of the land and plants back, but that will never happen as that would be good for us.

You mean the government that decided to stop funding our local car industry which then led to all the car companies pulling out?
Don't think they care mate.
