Guys, I am in the process of stripping a 1969 LC Torana back to bare metal and was wondering if the red oxide primer used in that era is lead based? I'm not too concerned when scraping liquid/paste off, but worried when sanding/wire wheeling the fiddly bits when particles become air-borne. Cheers in advance - paul

Paul, thanks for the heads up, I didn't know about asbestos in sound deadener. I/m normally pretty careful with masks, goggles ect but will be extra careful now!

Its the microscopic particles of asbestos that will give you grief.
The bits you cant actually see.
The chances of getting asbestosis are very marginal.
You can have worked with the stuff daily and never have a problem.
Or you can be exposed to it once, and die as a result.

Check out the WISH app that comes up on Facebook, or go look for it.
I got a respirator with goggles for about 15 bucks landed from China or somewhere.
Replacement cartridges were cheap too.
The class of filter is the one for asbestos and isocyanates.
Works well and the goggles dont fog up like some Ive used.
