Round 4 of the State Motor Racing Champs is on at Mallala on October 28.

There should be a number of Torana's at this meeting in the Improved Production and Historic Touring Car classes.
Unfortunatly I won't be there to click off another 600 photos. Poor programing of a holiday by Mrs Hatchman. Gonna have to train her to look at the motor racing calender first. :D

Dosnt look like I'm going to be able to make it to this one either.. :(

I've only just got the car back from the roll cage guy, and decided I'm going to repaint the interior, plus relocate the dry sump tank to the boot. Also still got a bit of work to do on the new braking system, plus the funds are still a bit low low after the new house purchase!

I figure I'll get the car right now so I can (hopefully) do a full season next year, and with any luck a couple of interstate rounds...

Once I've got it painted I'll post up some before and after pics.

cheers,

Sam

Sam.....
before you buy your plumbing for the dry sump tank in the boot....
Let me know what lengths of hose you need to run the length of the cabin...
Have just done this with the walky and I can save you some serious $$$'s

Cheers Greg..

Hey Greg,

Thanks heaps mate, would be very interested to hear how you went about setting the walky up!

Your not wrong about the hose pricing..... esp here in aus!

I gave up tring to source that sort of stuff locally and usually get my hoses from a couple of nascar surplus stores in the US, even with the frieght it works out HEAPS cheaper this way. I bought the 3 lenghts of hoses I needed (with fittings), plus 4 X AN8 push on hose fittings (for fuel system) for $150 AUS... Still had to get the bulkhead fittings here but still saved a bomb...

Also got the radiator (C&R), dry sump pump (Barnes), pulleys, dry sump tank, catch tank, brake bits from o/s as well! I'd hate to think how much more the car would have cost if I'd bought all those bits here...

Another great o/s site is rallynuts, even with our crap exchange rate (to UK) you can still save heaps on accessories, including harness, boots, gloves, steering wheels, etc...

cheers,

Sam

Sounds like you are pretty good at sniffing out the bargains!
Me too....
You have to be, to keep these things on the track!
That is exactly what I was getting at. I was going to suggest nascar surplus to you...But you already have it sussed!
Maybe we should compare sellers...
Who did you get the pump off?
Was It Rick or was It Jeff or someone else?
Did they look after you?
I'll take a pic of the walky's pumbing and post it for you...(it scares the shit out of me to look at it!)hoses everywhere!
I'm always bringing stuff over for my monsters....Latest are del West Ti Valves and retainers,1 race on them ($150 AUD) on my doorstep!
How do you top that in Australia? You don't!
Perhaps we should look at trying to get a few people involveed and by "bulk lots" will definately get a better deal.

Cheers Greg..

hehe, yeah your spot on there! I'd still be half way through my build if it wasnt for them... :)

Yeah most of my stuff has come from both of those guys, plus archie(clinton), AL from Raceproven, race-city parts as well.

Very happy with the service from all of these guys, as you would know unless your willing to wait months, its always worth paying the extra for the airmail. I ordered those hoses on the monday and they were here by friday!

Send us through some pics of your plumbing, and I'll send you through some of my setup... :) I thought I was being smart buying a barnes 5 stage pump, didnt really think about how much of a hassle it would be to set it up tho....haha hoses everywhere....

No doubt you've seen those ex cup SB2 engines for sale for around $10.000 US, whats your thoughts on those? Dosnt seem like anyone over here is using them yet, but they are getting some pretty impressive figures out of them (700+)

btw, def drop me an email if you are shipping some stuff, and I'll do the same, gotta take any savings we can get!

cheers,

Sam

Complex doesn't even go close to cover it!
staying Holden powered.
Because I am late model if i change block or heads I have to weigh min 1580Kg and that's a lot heavier than i am at present.

Cheers Greg..

You guys sound like you've found a good contact in the states for ex NASCAR parts, can you send me some contact details, as i purchased some parts a few years ago from a supposed ex NASCAR engine builder & recieved nothing but crap, so i have never ventured into it again.

Its hard to find a shop over there that doesnt just send there crap over here cos its far enough away for them to get away with it.

PS, do you know with the 28th October meeting, are Improved Production are running by themselves or are they combining you guys with us saloons ?

We had trouble with a supposed "talented" driver in a dodgey RX7 last meeting!!

I haven't heard anything about running combined. All comes down to numbers entered in each class I guess.

The one you speek about only has talent in his own mind. Not very popular with the Improved Production guys either.
