i have been thinking about putting a custom dash face in my torrie, i have taken all the dash apart and i reckon i will leave the crash pad and maybe the lower section still in, but iwould like to put sheet metal through the middle with gauges mounted in it and my switches

has anyone attempted this and do you have any photos at all?

CHEERS! :spoton:

Not quite sheet metal, but close, this is the dash out of my FE Holden.
The speedo fits where the original was and the smaller guages are mounted in welded in sections. The indicator lights are 12V chrome bezel LEDs from Jaycar.

ive done it.
the gauges just fix in using the brackets you get with them.

fitting a metal piece into an early torana will be a pain.
later toranas should be easy

Stinky, i like the look of that dash. Are you an auto retrimmer or somethin by trade? Or just a hobby?

I have a fair few pics of other people's setups in their LH/LXs, I will upload them later.

Hobby that is almost a trade
I was getting sick of fixing computers day-in day-out and am doing a TAFE night course. Offered up a few materials only jobs, which have now led to quite a few full paying jobs. Maybe one day I'll cross over from 'puters to trimming

Love the digital setup, J-Rod

Just a thought.....

If you hold an LH/LX dash panel over a UC sports cluster,
can you see all the guages nicely? Do the middle four fit
in the field of view?

Always thought that might look OK if it all lined up. Chopping
here and there to make the final fit would be worth it if it visually
worked.

Anyone tried this? No clue if there are any other logistical probs.

If anyone wants to bring a UC cluster around to see, I have plenty of LH/LX fascias to test it on, lol!

The blue hatch will probably be the closest to what you're aiming for.

^ Feel free to bring one around some time and I'll grab one of my fascias out and grab some shots, if they're half decent I'll post them up here, but them lining up won't mean that there won't be any clearance issues, or wiring issues or anything like that, even mounting it wouldn't be too much fun I presume.

^^ Glad to help out, get some pics of the setup you go ahead with mate! :spoton:

Probably Saturday when I drop the headlight around to James. Feel free to hang onto it until your finished with the other sample I dropped around.
