turbo 350 or trimatic?

looking around im thinking if it has a bellhousing its a trimatic and if the bell housing is built onto the box it a turbo 350 or 400? is this correct ?? i got a box thrown in with a motor i bought and cant member wat he said it was and now im about to need a box and wondering wether to use it behind a 304, are trimatics any good ? this one is rebuilt so im told and the seals you can see look new ? any help towards this would be great thnxs

If the bellhousing is seperate to the box, it's a Trimatic. Otherwise it's probably a T350/400. Trimatics can apparently be built to withstand 450 HP, but how much money do you want to spend?

More importantly, what pattern block do you have?

304 will probably be chev pattern and U will need a different bell housing to run trimatic.
same rules apply for all autos, shift into top asap (ie dont hold low gears) and no down changing from too high road speed. If the 304 is a real goer then the traumatic may need some mods to keep up.

im told the 304 is turbo patern and the bell housing thats on the auto trimatic lines up with the motor so ???

You can mate any transmission to it these days plenty of shops out there that modify bell housing to suit application
