HQ is 5 x 4.74" which is approximately 120.65mm
You can make them fit but I have read many times that the difference is enough to cause the stud to fatigue and eventually snap resulting in death.

hq's are imperial, commodore is metric.
If you want to hammer your mags on and off and break wheel studs, then I guess you could say they are the same.

So is this death to the studs or maybe the possibilty of causing an accident with a chance there could be damage to the vehicle, maybe possible injuries to the occupants or as a worse case scenario and an extremely unfortunate and unlikely result of possibly causing a death to any human the outcome? You can make them fit but I have read many times that the difference is enough to cause the stud to fatigue and eventually snap resulting in death.

Is that simple enough?
Then there is the centrebore problem. The CB of a Commodore is 2 MM smaller than the HQ. This means the rim wown't bolt up flush to the hub.
Can anybody see another problem?
If you manage to overcome these issues, the Commodore rims will REDUCE the HQ's track by 60 MM.
Even more undesirable side effects.
P.S. The track reduction will make it unroadworthy all by itself.

Yes a standard C/dore rim will reduce track.
Yes a C/dore rim has too small a centre bore.
HOWEVER
I use C/dore chaser centres welded into 15x4" ROH outers on my HQ, and have done for over 2 years now.
The centre bore was machined out to suit the HQ hub and yes, tapered seat nuts are used to secure them. I have never had a wheel nut come loose. All the vehicle's weight is borne on the centre bore of the wheel, not the nuts, so I fail to see how a stud can break through fatigue. I also checked the runout of the chrome nuts, and it is way over 0.3 of a mm. The chrome plating on the nut is thicker than that !
