hey folks...
well we have a Celica steel case 5 speed in the garage, part of a complete LC/LJ conversion kit my mate is selling, and a buyer came round to get it this arvo... and the shifter is bloody not moving!
The shafts turn freely, and the shifter can be removed, but the selector shaft is not moving from where it sits... any ideas?
Anyone have a link to an online schematic of these things? Or an online service manual perhaps?
I know frig-all about these boxes... i generally play with the aussie 4speeds...
*sigh*
and thanks in advance.

check the roll pin on the end of the selector shaft (in piece that the gear shift locates into) otherwise it maybe internal

The selctor shafts are held in with roll pins. to dis assemble the box the roller pins get punched out and then the selector forks etc can be removed off teh shafts. Some time these pins move and jam teh box other times it can be just a case of the shafts get gumed up with crap. try using a silicon type spray on the shaft where it penetrates the centre case (ie bit the main case and extension housing bolt to. and see whether that assists.

$50?
bargain
well the roll pin is fine at the shifter end, but we cant get the edn housing off for some reason... looks like it's going to the shop.
I much prefer the M20-21's....

theyre easy to pull apart, just separate it in the middle, dont worry, the only gear at the back is reverse, so you can stuff too much, you can see exactly how the shifter works when its apart!
