I remember reading a topic a while ago where someone asked for boot photos regarding the bolt brackets and tyre 'rest' bracket in the boot.

I'm asking again :D

Reason being, My LC has a small bracket with a hole in it for a bolt of some sort, and it also has a larger bracket that the tyre can rest on without being bolted.

If I recall, some models come with this rest thing and some models come without. I have no gripes with it until my new boot carpet does not allow for the larger bracket.

My question is, which models have this and which don't? is it a factory thing or after market? I currently do not have the seperate 'dog-leg' spare wheel bracket so the larger bracket is needed to rest the tyre, or it will probably just fall over.
Perhaps, I can remove the rest bracket if i get the appropriate bits?

How do you secure your tyre in the well? with bracket and bolts or whatever. What is the source of this larger resting bracket and why do some models have it and why not others.

Thanks a lot :)

Click

There you go.

If you look at the very last pic of an XU1, a little bit above the long range fuel tank there is a brass nut. Apparently only XU1's had that. If your car is 'unrestored' that is meant to be there.

thanks jbird. no wonder search for 'boot' in every forum topic didn't show anything, its written in the description!

How are the tyres supported in those GTR and XU-1 models WITHOUT the leaning support bracket? I'd like to remove it instead of cutting the carpet, if i can find appropriate supports.
I can't shut my boot without the tyre leaning, btw.

I'm not too sure how it does it unfortunately! I always took it for granted. I will have a squiz tomorrow and let you know. You need the bigger wheels, thats why the GTR/XU1 models didnt have the "leaning" support and just the one bracket.
