how ya goin boys and girls,
well, i finally got off my ass yesterday and change the filler tube o ring on my trans, she was surely stuffed, and i got all happy that finally my days of a leaking trans were over.
i degreased the underside of the car, paying particular attention to the trans, let it dry and took it for a drive to check my work
WELL
i have now found where my leak is coming from
it seems to be coming from where the column shift linkage thingy enters the body of the trans
i assume there is some sort of seal in there
just wondering if anyone has any ideas on how to fix this little problem, as i would like a leak free trans

i cant seem to find a part number in my book, or even a pic of the seal.
i might have a look at it, but dont want to fuk it and find i cant get a part.

Any tranny place could suppy and fit that seal, can be difficult to change at home. Scary bits are nicking the shaft on removal and damaging the new seal when fitting by nicking the seal on the thread and step for the lever. Also easier if you drop the rear crossmember so you can get a straighter run at it.

what type of seal is it
is it a compression type seal, or just a sort of resistance seal
i was thinking of packing it with some goretex teflon cord, and re compressing it, but im not sure what type of seal it is

Similar to a harmonic balancer type seal with no spring.
Relies on the tension in the seal material.
I wrap one layer of insulation tape over shaft thread and step to fit (to provide a ramp) and use a 1/4 drive deep socket as a drift.
