Bendigo Swap Meet

I trudged around the Bendigo show grounds for about 10 hours yesterday
looking for elusive MG parts. Huge display as usual and a lot of the same old
junk I have seen there over the last few years - same crap and same old vendors.
However I found enough stuff I needed to lure me back again next year.
GMH Colour chart - One bloke was selling a 1971 GMH paint colour chart - about A4
size which had the opaque silouette stencil of the contemporay holden products - It had
to be the 1971 chart because the colour chips included Linamint Blackwatch Green and
Taormina Aqua.
The chart was in very good but not mint condition. He wanted $ 50 for it - which I declined.
If any of you Bendigo fossickers are going today and want to check it out - the bloke
had a caravan & annex - selling sales brochures etc around site 4100 area.
Cheers JR.

Yep - me too. I get a bit tired of seeing the same old rusty tools and tractor seats and sundry non-automotive related junk. By 10 or 11 o'clock quite a number of stall holders and their hangers-on were drunk and swearing between themselves - oblivious to the fact that potential customers (some with little children) were giving their stalls a wide birth.
I think I will go to Ballarat next year and then not bother about any more swap meets. Most of the tools and equipment can be bought at SuperCheap for less.
I will source my requirements on eBay as that is where I have the most success.
There wasn't much Torana related stuff at Bendigo.

Even the Holden six gear was pretty lousy. A few Holleys and twin Strommies on manifolds, two rusty, greasy 186 blocks half assembled
So bloody tiring as well lol, a little too hot and dusty for my liking. I came home with another set of LH Chromies, a retrimmed console armrest and two awesome advertising brochures which I will scan when I get the scanner working.
If I go again, I'll be out of there by midday.

didnt see the new bloke in town whos speciallising in hktg monaro stuff ? also had a hg gts tags
didnt see the hk monaro there or the lj 2 door 4 cyl that was pretty mint
there was some torana stuff for example i came home with a alternator bracket some tri ys
you have to have eyes out for the stuff if i see anything holden at a stands il spend at least a minute scaning over stuff to see for anytihng i need
heath u werent getting around with stockings on your arms were you that have like tatts paintings on them??
i spent 13 hours there at sat i got there late (8 am) and today from 9-3
the first year i never got to see everything i was too busy with mates helping out at there sites
the reason no torana stuff?
to me it has became better than last year as there was alot more car stuff especailly the first gen monaro stuff
if bendigos serious about getting it booming theyd have another shed built up for the car show to show the cars in the shed!
p.s. you blokes shoulda posted up you were comming down my mates site was number 253!! where i was most of the time
i did see a number for torana parts lc lj headlight surrounds price ranging from 10-100 dollars each .. i didnt bother reading the rest (wtf mate theyre not a monaro just a torry)
heath btw your starting to sound like my mother!
that is nothing compared to one year when the temp was about 39 degrees all day and 40 the other
ps dont buy drinks there for 2 bucks just walk to the supermarket down the road and buy 2 litres of coke for 1.89 ! (thats what i did about 2 times on sat)

I reckon I saw everything, I have got how to navigate the swap down to a fine art! there was a stall with a fair amount of torana stuff, mainly LH/X. there were a few sets of tripples and there was quite a bit of stuff for holden V8's

i was very lucky to get the alternator bracket btw!
dad was talking to a bloke about vintage cars and i decided to walk off and look at a store and saw holden bits and thought hmm just junk
went back to dad for about 10 mins and got bored went back to the same site and as i was walking i noticed a bracket with torana written on it i litterally dived onto this and offered 60 bucks
i was going to get 2 new taillights as my ones have chrome with some missing for the lh but for 30 dollars each i think id rather pull mine off and fill the holes with fine filler!

I was one of the stall holders at the swap. I did not realise it was so popular It was my first swap meet ever. Shame I had the stall I did not get to walk around till 11am sunday and by then everything was pretty much gone.
Think I might just camp out next year in our spot but sell nothing so I can get into the action early and see if I can find that elusive locking petrol cap bargain I have been searching for
