hi,
I have 2 LX hatches. One with a banjo and the other with no diff. Im doing up the one with no diff as its in better condition and fitting a VP V6 in it.
I want to run a BW commo diff at the rear so it will need to be cut down.
Hence have a commo stud pattern all the way around with a hoppers kit on the front.
The situation is that I want to sell the not so good condition hatch but will i need to keep it so that who ever cuts the commo diff down can get all the length, trailing arms and so forth lined up?
Any suggestions???
I will do some ringing around over the next couple of days.
thanks youngy

you will need to keep the banjo so that they can use the trailing arm mounts ect for your bw diff

Use the BW out of the R31 skyline apparently they are the right width and so don't need shortening. They are 28 spline and you can use the rear brakes off it as well.

If you are planning to cut a BW and use Commodore disc brakes then I would recommend making the diff 20mm wider than the standard Torana diff to provide clearance for the calipers.
The hoppers front discs are typically setup 10mm wider each side to accommodate the Commodore offset rims and provide extra clearance for the calipers.
Have a look at these threads.

The diff place can change the stud pattern to commodore. Just so you know. Also skyline diffs are asking for less premium prices than the commodore ones and they dont have a mini drum brake system that is used for the handbrake. Probably the only forseeable problem is getting handbrake cables to adapt. You'll also need your tailshaft modded to match with the nissan yoke. Either way it will be cheaper not having to shorten axles and housing to match.
You'll need the banjo diff for the mounts that will get welded onto the BW diff. As makka stated.

also the skyline diff should have 3.89 ratio, which are far more fun than the boring 3.08 commodore gears!!
