Depends on the tripples and the fuel pressure listed is not high enough, soon as a hot day comes along it will vapour lock like crazy.

Cheers

i use a carter, 7psi 75gph i think, its just the base model, that worked perfectly, even when racing.

keeps up now too with the v8.

was only about $115 from www.vpw.com.au

draglc is right.
You need low pressure, high flow.
The "Carter" is a rotary pump, so you will get constant flow without the hammering at the needle and seats. Plenty of fuel volume.
A better system would be to run a return line to the tank.
You won't need to use a pressure regulator.
I find this the best way to run Webers too.
Ferrari used this system for the Webers on their old non injected cars too.

I run the mechanical fuel pump with a regulator set at 4psi. The other week, the needle and seat let go on my middle carb. Would fitting the Carter pump be a better option than the holden mechanical?

I use a Blue motor mechanical pump which is good enough to keep up with 3x 13/4" Su's running low 14s over the 1/4, or you can fit a small block chev pump.If you are using SU's 3psi is the pressure that is required.

most parts places sell pressure regulators and from my experience they are all basically the same. Im running tripple SUs with the original red motor fuel pump and never had any troubles, i was running a holley electric fuel pump but was having dramas with flooding. mechanical is just fine and cheaper too.

If you're buying a rotary type pump, (Carter) you only need a low psi (5 average) and about 75 gph flow. About $125 to $135.
Rare spares have them.

The average pressure for 1 3/4 inch SUs is 3psi??The mechanical pumps standard red motor or blue works with a regulator???Do u still have to use a reg on those carter pumps???Cheers for the info guys

If you run a return line, Then no.
If not, it's a good idea to use a regulator, But try without first.
What damages the seats on the carbs is the hammering from the mechanical or electric pumps. (especially Facet pumps) The SU Fuel pump only allowed the fuel to be pumped once the pressure dropped.
John.
