Hi All
Quick question, the blackouts on Lc and LJ's are they painted in a Matt Black, semi gloss or gloss?

What is the paint code (or its equivalent these days)
Cheers

chances are you're new body paint will be glossier than factory anyway, so just go for an equally as attractive black

All black on external body work of the LC torana was: Dulon black, colour code 04149
Dash, upper steering column, and seat side rails are Dulon black medium gloss 578-04149, and the glove box lid (if black), and ash tray lid on the LC was Dulon suede 563-06912.

hope this helps
cheers

Thanks guys, so was the dulon a semi gloss, full gloss or flat black.

Your right in saying that the new paint will be glossier, but not sure if to go semi gloss or full gloss.

What do you reckon

as my personal preference, id probably go for gloss, if its on the exterior. just nice and extra shiny, and gets the comments from people checking it out.
but its upto your personal preference.
have you seen both the semi gloss and gloss together? which looks best for you?

Id be going for the gloss for sure. I persoanlly reccon that matt black just looks so average, gloss will look so mint when your cars in the sun and all the chrome is glistening aswell :D But its your own choice.

The warrigal black was replaced by tuxedo black and has probably been replaced again ! the finish was " gloss " for sure !!! the only exterior part that was " semi gloss black " was the nibbless rims !!! D.

I'd go gloss in any case. If it's a new paint job, and you're likely to polish it a few times, make the black a gloss so you can polish it too. Semi gloss will show up if you slip with the polishing procedure of the main paintwork, and will also go gloss if you have to polish off any tar, bug splats, etc.

I agree with the other guys, GLOSS is the go. I reckon it looks heaps better. I recently sprayed my car and did all the blackouts in gloss as well as the boot and engine bay but it really depends on what you prefer. Here's a couple of photo's of my car. Cheers Mick.
