Well, what can I say, after hounding you guys for god knows how long...

It's alive, the worked 308 is here, I have a video of it running to present to you all :spoton:

from tired genuine 202ci SL/R to 14sec time slipped (in a VB commo) worked 308ci..

Just have to mount the radiator properly...

Enjoy

(5mb - worth it  )

Many thanks to you all for all your help to make this possible.

Comments welcome :)
(apologies for the digicam not being able to represent just how deep this thing sounds).

(p.s. - my mate holding rag to the carby was actually preventing a fuel leak/spray :(... runs alot less choppy without that fuel spraying out :)... and the smoke at the very end was a bit of trans oil from a leak i fixed on the extractors + new extractors burning in)

I'm changing the hosting location to:

Due to previous locations bandwidth limits.

Fix that fuel leak man!

Is it coming out of the pipe that joins the front and rear bowls? They've got little O rings there which split

It is yeah, real bowl o-ring sprung a leak, it looks as though they are just soft lead?

Took her for a drive and it needs a bit of a tune (she didn't want to stop - fairly long run on after ignition switched off).
Trans was slipping at first (revving out to 4500 rpm with virtually no right foot and getting nowhere), that fixed itself up as the new trans oil found it's way around.

Got it home and ran out of fuel :)

For the running on the idle speed is most likely set too high, and there isn't enough ignition advance in it.

When dry filling an auto its best to have the back wheels up and off the ground, and go through the gearbox selecting each gear. This allows the trans fluid through all the passages of the valve body without any real load being placed on the transmission.

This thread's back from the grave :tease:

Haha, yeah mate, she's completely as she was before, badges and all .
All that's been done to her (Aside from engine swap) from genuine SL/R 202 condition was : Lowered, Tinted Windows, 205's.
No intention of changing anything except maybe trying to fit 225's on there (Worked 308 + little 205's can lead to a bit of accidental wheelspinning)

Original block, clutch setup etc. is all still around and I have no intention of tossing it/selling it etc.
Where the car goes, the rest of that gear goes.

I named the car Sin 308 (Sinfully stripped away the genuine SL/R :P).

Power difference is amazing over the 202, had a number of cars rev up and try and race, particularly riced up 4cyls, and the old girl just chomps them up without even cracking 2.5K rpm :spoton:

The heads she turns is the sugar on top for driving it, twice as many as before, plenty of positive shout-outs, few older guys at traffic lights impressed at how well she looks right down to the original SL/R hubcaps :spoton:

Would estimate maybe a 13.5 quarter mile [:cough: Based on other cars that have run the 1/4 that are close in acceleration to mine] on current useless tread, not the fastest thing out there, but not the reason I wanted a v8 anyway :)

Fuel wise, not too bad when driving featherfoot, maybe a bit over 300k's to 55L with PULP pure suburbia/city driving.

When dry filling an auto its best to have the back wheels up and off the ground, and go through the gearbox selecting each gear. This allows the trans fluid through all the passages of the valve body without any real load being placed on the transmission.

I did do this but it still slipped once or twice tops, hasn't done it since (although my dipstick is dribbling a bit so I have to pull that up once again, and that bolt is a whole lot of fun to get to).

The reason I mentioned the badges on guards & leaving them on is she is a real sleeper! I bet you are enjoying going for a drive these days a whole lot more!

She's not much of a sleeper with an 8.
Hear the exhaust before you saw the badges :)

Still trying to sort out this T350 transmission oil leak, I thought I had figured out it was coming from the dipstick tube... It would appear that it's not and I'm having a great deal of trouble finding it's source.
Tightened up coolant line clamps but I'm highly doubtful it was coming from there anyway (appears to be conveniently somewhere directly above where the extractors end and exhaust starts - but oil is finding it's way halfway up the trans tunnel and three feet down the exhaust :/).

Just cleaned it all up underneath and will see if I can find out where it's coming from this time around, only leaks with engine running and exhaust gets too F@#$%n hot to turn engine on and try to watch it leak [plus it's too slow], I assume it's a pressure driven leak somewhere, argh :furious:

Trans oil aint cheap to keep topping up!
