quick question: my lj 4 door has never given a correct fuel reading; the guage reads quarter of a tank and yet the tank itself is bone dry. took the terminal off the sender unit and earthed it on the tank, when i turned key to acc., the guage reaches full. so, i'm assuming the wire is fine and earthed properly. changed the guage over with a spare just to be sure, and did the same thing, reads 1/4 full when tnak is empty. is my sender unit shagged? :fool:

I'd say that your float arm is bend down too much and it hitting the tank before its supposed to, You can bend the float arm up a little this will make the float read more correctly, I wouldn't worry too much if you bend it a bit more than is needed as its better to say you have less fuel than you really have.
