I cut and pasted this after I put it in Hot Holdens forums(can I say that?)...
HCC's organising a cruise with all proceeds going to the Brock foundation. It's not an official Brock cruise but does anyone know if anyones organising an official event which includes all Holden/Touringcar/V8 Supercar/Motorsport related owners/vehicles(and even the F^%d ones too.)
Anyone know of an official 1 oganised for 24th or 25th Feb.? Be good to get torana clubs, Monaro clubs, and all Commodore clubs involved?
I kinda hoped there'd be an official Brock cruise organised by now, not a cruise that, by the way, we'll make it a "Brock cruise" type cruise....
Know what I mean?

Build the bridge, he's gone, and most here have done their thing and moved on.

HTC "Holden Torana Club" of SA will be holding a cruise nearer to the Anniversary of his death, details still need to be discussed.

Yella great response, NOT!

Wasn't there talk of doing a cruise for Brocky's birthday or something rather than the anniversary of his death? Even combining it with the Torana Allstates cruise? Everyone on the cruise should be in a much happier frame of mind then.
Haven't heard of any combined club cruises though.

i would hazard a guess that there will b a memorial held at bathurst.

Any event organised will be soley to pay respect to Peter and the huge impact he had on motor sport and especially Torana and Holden. That is what memorials are all about, remembering those that have passed on and the influence they had on our lives.

Don't get me wrong, he was great. I went to everything he went to within a stone's throw of here.

We did a cruise right after his death, even drove down to his funeral in Melbourne. All these seemed appropriate. Guys that missed the tribute cruise here wanted another, but seemed too much like steeling the limelight. Think it's all bit of a balancing act as to what is appropriate, and when that moves from being appropriate to being in bad taste. It seems to be a very fine line.

Personally, I'm thinking the event down in Victoria organised by the Peter Brock Foundation, Brocky's Big Day Out, is the most appropriate tribute, however that is just my own personal opinion. At least we would be supporting a cause that he was most passionate about.

My earlier post reflected how mad I was about the original post. Seemed like somebody just logging on looking for PB Limelight. Apologies if that was not the case/intention. Bit like how mad people on here got when all the PB stuff went for sale on E-bay the day he died.

Agree 100% with celebrating his birth rather than his death, as in a way, the man will always be with us.

Yeah, sorry dude, that post could have been interpretted so many ways. Was just a bit angry at the time. Might have been different if the dude had at least introduced himself on the forums first and kicked around a bit.

Apologies to all for the harshness of the first post.

All in all, all Torrie Clubs in all states did the man proud, and got good coverage to boot, which none of us were looking for, it just happened.

Ditto, I'd rather go on a cruise to celebrate his life than mourn his death. Thats why I was asking on the 24th/25th, Sat or Sun- A cruise for his death seems abit morbid....

just a gentle few questions (not intended to arc anyone up, if it does then I want this post deleted)

1. Do u pay respects on Anzac Day?
Death of way too many.
http://www.awm.gov.a...c_tradition.htm

2. Do u pause for the 1 minute silence on remembrance day (11.11 at 11am) ?
Again death of way too many.
http://www.dva.gov.a...emb/Rem_day.htm

It is gunna be hard to know which way its gunna go, at the moment its abut 50/50.

Yikes I need a poll on this thread.(mods can u add this poll to thread please)
#1 Brocky bday tribute sund 25th Feb (bdate 26th)
#2 Brockys memorial sat sept 8th
#3 Both or either
#4 none

I'm for both.

ANZAC day and Rememberance day are both the anniversaries of quite significant events in time
(for those that dont know, ANZAC Day - 25th april is the day that Australian, and New Zealand forces landed at Gallipolli and Rememberance day/ 11 hour of the 11th month signifies the signing of the armistice, and the end of WW1)
I personally believe that you cannot even compare these events with Brocky's passing
I have nothing for praise for the man, but i don't honestly believe he has done THAT much for this country.
im all for a cruise, but not for comparing one man to those thousands who fought, and fell for this country
might just be that little bit of Digger left in me
Cheers
Dave

P.S Kaz, you havent arced me up at all, these are just my thoughts :D

kaz your trying to compare apples and oranges. if you celebrated the birth of every serviceman you be having a party every day as opposed to celebrating the birth of one man
