I pulled the bolts out of the chassis rails today, getting ready for the front crossmember to go back in.
The steel tubes that go into the chassis rails, all have 2 thin plastic/rubber tubes over them (top & bottom).
Most of them have been chewed out obviously from rubbing, so I'm wondering on their purpose, and what to replace them with?
I assume that they are there to stop the tubes from wandering around in the hole? I was thinkning that I could make a sleeve from aluminium to replace them, and make it a tighter fit in the chassis rails, or otherwise maybe just wind electrical tape around the steel tube until it gets to the right thickness?
Any thoughts/ comments?

I used a bit of garden hose on my LX. I am not convinced that it is required at all. The Nolathane k-frame mount kit has new crush tube and washers but no rubber tubing.
