I finally got around to buying a random orbital air sander today, I asked the salesman where to oil it & how often & he did not have a clue as usual!
Anyway I got home opened the box & I see were to oil sander, but does anyone have an idea on how much oil to put in? And how often to oil?
Its one of those Super Works brand from Supa Cheap Auto $89.95 there is like a metal gause pad inside end of handle is where the oil goes.
One thing is it works like a gem so far!
Thanks
Air Sander

with most air tools you can buy an inline oiling tool, or you can just put the oil in yourself statically. Just a few drops in the in line fitting of the tool is enough, it will usually fill to the top of the fitting after a few drops. Depending on how often you use the tool, but if you were using it daily, once a week is fine.

just a couple of drops where the air hose plugs into every little while. every half hour or so or once a day. it is mainly oiled because compressed air gives off moisture and oiling it will stop it rusting i allways thought so it wouldnt need to be done all the time

Thanks guys that was fast! You would think the people that sell the tools would know something about the products they are selling.
I was very suprised how effortless the sander worked, it has the adhesive sand paper pads, seems like a good investment.
I actually took your advise REDA9X as you mentioned in another topic to buy an air sander if you are painting car.
Thanks again.

did you get the one with the velcro style pad? They are the best, then you buy discs made by Norton in various grades in 200 to a box.

No I did not see one, I went to Bunnings they were bloody useless & new nothing of the product, so I just took a punt on the sander that uses pads that have adhesive back, it was at Supa Cheap Auto.

You can buy a new velcro pad to replace the stick on one, i prefer the velcro as you can change paper more than once, once you peel a stick-it off its useless
If you want i can get one for you through my work
