Can anyone tell me whether or not Bowdens car polish is better than Meguiars? I have used Meguiars for years but have only recently seen Bowdens in the shops. Good polishes are worth their weight in gold i think.

A dude in the club used Megiars religiously. He thought he'd give Bowden's a go. As far as I'm aware he hasn't gone back to Megiars since. He owns a white A9X, with the correct number of doors.

Yeh, 2 doors for go, 4 doors for family. Only joking. I use Megiars and love it. I have not used Bowden's so maybe I should give it a run.

I've always used Maquires or Mothers, but I'm giving Bowdens own a try out shortly. From what I have been told by people who have tried it, it's better than those 2 and Auto Glym and easier to use.

I have tried Bowdens, Mothers, Meguires and AutoGlym. I prefer the results of Auto Glym.

Really? I think Bowdens developed their own brand though because they were polishing old cars and the paint layers were being lost.

Something I have heard about Maquires Gold glass from a good source (could be wrong) is that it is purely a dye or colour change they put in the standard polish, so basically, buying gold class doesn't give you anything extra over the normal line.

I'd be interested to hear more on this. I used Gold Class and a mate used the standard, mine came up better. So to test it further I used the standard one for 6 months (mainly cos I won a bucket of the stuff) and it didn't leave the paint the same way so I'm back on the Gold and the results are excellent again. (dunno if it makes a diff what your paint type is? I got acrylic/top coat clear).

Meguires Gold class is the wax and polish in one handy bottle.
Best results are achived by the two products, Meguires polish than the Meguires wax after. Takes a lot more time thou. The gold class save time thats all.
Unless you do your car regulary the Meguires paint cleaner should be used first for an even better result.
I have never tryed any of the others.
The onnly Bowdens product I've used has been the car wash gear. Have no complaints with it.

I`m into the Meguiars products and was willing to try Bowdens but heard that they will go cloudy on some finishes and for what they charge for the product I`m not taking the chance on that kind finish for that kind of outlay.

I've been using Bowdens for 3 years now.
When I switched from Maquires I had trouble with a cloudy finish on my black car.
I thoroughly stripped the whole car of old wax with Wax & Grease remover before trying Bowdens again. But then, while the finish looked stunning in the shade, it was streaky in the sunlight.
Bowdens were very interested and sent one of their paint chemists to look at it.
Cut a long story short.
The preparation products clean the surface so well, you only need very little finishing wax to get a great result. The trick is to apply with an applicator and remove with a microfine cloth while it's still drying.
Result is an ultra deep shine. Added bonus, it leaves no dry white wax marks along mouldings and edges.
AND this is not a paid commercial. (but I wish it were)
John.
