Hi

The options I know of - Rear Mufflers -

1. Rare Spares - $ 231.73 - manufacturer ? Lukey ??

2. Humex at Lavington ( Albury NSW ) Ph. 02 60404640
supposed to be an exact replica using orig. specs cannister. $ 155.22 + freight
when I enquired 12 months ago.

3. Ebay seller - Mark ? at Settlement Road Exhaust Centre
367 Settlement Rd Thomastown Ph. 03 94663971.
Price about $ 200.

Berklee in Ballarat ? - no longer make a repro item.

Resonator ( front ) is integral part of the front dual engine pipes.

Pro-Ex Exhausts are the wholesale outlet at Airport West in Melbourne
Ph 03 0330 2711 - Their item ref. E 2764. I ordered a set from them through
Bursons and paid $ 212.73 about 18 months ago. Differences to original being
aluminised finish and laser cut as opposed to pressed flanges.

The Ebay guy ( Mark) is asking $ 295.00 . His resonator appears to be identical
to the original with rolled rims at each end of cylindrical casing.
He is also selling the intermediate pipe for $ 85.00. Pro- Ex quoted me the rec.
retail price of $ 68.00 + gst ( Part No. E 2662 ) when I called them this week.

Some options for you.

:spoton:

Cheers JR

Hi luke, I have got one from rare spares I think it was around the price wingnut quoted, made by Swift mufflers. When I got it home I put it next to my n.o.s. xu-1 muffler top find it was match in every way except for the body of the muffler of the repro one is about 10mm longer. Other than that perfect. Last time I was in Rare Spares up near the Exhibition grounds they one in stock. F.T.

just to add abit to the lc lj resonator, i still have my original resonator off my lc gtr and it looks different to the xu1.

So im not sure if the lc xu1 shared the lc gtr resonator.

It looks like a hotdog but the inside has perforated lots of 2-3mm dia holes without the little scallops to catch the exhaust.

Maybe thats why they had a distinctive note

Early LC XU1 had no resonator and single exit barrel muffler.
71 LC CK bathurst onwards had the same muffler as the LJ XU1, twin outlet.
LJ XU1 used a sesonator.

Does anyone have a picture from a parts catalogue of a standard LJ GTR exhaust and muffler please.
John.

Hi

According to my Nasco catalogue, the LJ GTR exhaust was the same as the standard 3300cc 6 cylinder - it didn't even have the 2 piece cast headers. It had a twin tail pipe muffler but not the same part number as the XU-1.

Let me know if you still want a picture posted.

Hi LoneOranger

See pic below. As you can see, the setup for the 3300 (inc GTR) differs from the XU-1. Although the muffler looks similar it is probably only 1/3/4 inch inlet compared with the XU-1s 2 inch and as I mentioned earlier, they have different part numbers. Unlike the XU-1, the resonator for the 3300 (inc GTR) is part of the intermediate pipe and not part of the engine pipe assembly. The muffler for the 2250 and 2850 engines have a single downward facing tail-pipe.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you need anything else.

Bazza

Thanks Bazza,
Is it possible to get the part number for the LJ GTR radiator as well.
And if it tells whether it is 2 or 3 core.
John.

Hi John

There are 2 radiator assemblies listed for the 3300 engine.

2809857 = standard 3300 (this is different to the other 6 cylinders)

2823866 = optional heavy duty but standard for XU-1

The GTR is not specified so I suggest that it would be the standard 3300 type unless the heavy duty type was optioned.

There is no mention of the construction details but I know that the heavy duty/XU-1 type had a lot more fins per inch.
