I have never seen one on ebay so I don`t have a ball park figure to offer a guy who has one for sale.It is the 2824083 number and came from a writen off XU-1 and this guy has sold the head years ago and didn`t realise that the dizzy was rare until some-one blabbed and now he knows.I`m under the impression that he is chasing over $500 which I feel is steep but all the parts for these cars are steep and also rare.

Hi

Like you I had no idea of their value - I had never seen one on eBay - but based on their rarity I was happy to pay a negotiated price of $750 for a recoed one. I know of two XU-1 owners who are after original dizzys and I reckon it would sell on eBay for $1000 plus. If you can get it for $500 - grab it. Remember people paid $500 for Dotlocs not long ago. Additionally, original swaybars now go for over $500 and there were a lot more of those made than LJ XU-1 dizzys.

Prices of cars is rising as is the price of parts. I as anyone would love to have the correct part numbered dizzy in their car, however mine is long gone who knows how many years ago. I can see the value in things like correct engine blocks and cylinder heads as they make what I would refer to as a matching numbered car.

Smaller things like the dizzy I would be happy to use the old one I have and if the right one comes along so be it but if not oh well. To me xu1s were a performance car for the average guy yet the prices are now getting that way that not the average guy can get his hands on one and even the parts to build a replica are on the rise as well.

Prices keep going up and most people see their investment going up in value and are pleased, however the more the prices go up, the less of a chance of owning one the average guy has, and the less of a chance the dude who has one is going to drive it the way it was made to be driven, for fear of putting a new window in his jp block or bending the old girl.

Will we see the day where most are trailered around or babied around fuelling up plugs ? Where will prices end ? could we be saying one day remeber when you could get an xu1 dizzy for $1000 those were the days !

Is the part number quoted for an XU1 dizzy for LJ XU1 or LC XU1 or is it the same part number for both?

Hi 71XU1

PN 2824083 is for the LJ XU-1. I am pretty sure it is different to the LC. I have seen details in an old Bosch catalogue and remember commenting at the time that they had different numbers.

Someone with an LC parts catalogue may care to comment.

Sunburst- don't sell any more heads or carb sets for $200! There are plenty of people on here that would gladly pay $ 250!
seriously if we only knew then what things would be worth today many of us would have hung on to many things. thats life I guess.
