hmmm, i love my holdens but id have to say that a high revving 302 windsor is on top of my favorite sounding engine list. followed closely by an angry holden 6, and a tough 20B rotary

oops. got a lil sidetracked there

I know they aren't as wide, but that's about all.

But ya don't need as much room around the back either coz the dizzy's in a sensible position :spoton:

Just curious why you need to know, what car is it going into?

^ I figured that. It's just that Heath didn't specify... Anyway, a rear mounted Dizzy could be beneficial in certain applications...

been really think about one in my lc for a long time. A mate did ask if he could bolt his 580hp one in my gtr about 3yrs ago, to show people how good a windsor would run in a 100kilo car. I have never seen or heard of one been done, so it must be good. They are bolting Gen3's in falcons, so why not. Who wants to see another 308 lc? Only need a new bellhousing for the tremec and trade-in the 308 for a windsor :spoton:

There used to be a 351 LJ getting around sydney a few years back and it had the powered by ford rocker cover cut out and plated in the bootlid but i would think they would weigh a little more due to head size

From what I heard years ago the Holden V8 was the lightest cast iron V8 in the world at the time.

A Ford windsor runs a 8.200" deck height, vs 8.800 for a Holden. They are a more compact (size wise at least) than a 308. IMO they are a better engine when fitted with some aftermarket goodies, especially some alloy heads and a decent intake.

580hp from a 302W eh? I'd like to see that :<_<:

As far as a 302W in a 1000kg car is concerned, have a look at the AC Cobra from 1965.

it's not a 302W, it's the cortina on page 134 of SM(this month), the one of the back wheels. I think i might buy myself a 302W and give it a go.
