Sun visor recovering

I have seen that you can get your sun visors recovered, but not sure what condition you can get them redone.

ie the old covers are chipped away in the usual places from years of fingernails scraping, rubbing etc, slightly curved from sun damage.

Can I still get these recovered, or should I just get some better ones and have them redone in the correct colour?

Also interested to know if there is anyone who makes these from scratch, as I would love to have straight ones

There is always a way, if you can't get ones in better nick than yours you can always repair them. As to straightening them out, you could probably thread some thick gauge wire into the visors and bend them into shape, that's if they are like HQ items.

if your early ones are soft and bent try later ones, i hear they are harder and not prone to the sticky feel.

The visors in my car have been recovered, and look very good. the only problem is one side looks to have shrunk making the cover loose. So i would start with the best possible visors you can before covering them.

Sorry if this is stealing the thread - but are all lh,lx and uc visors the same? and then again for Hatchs and sedans?

no bazza,

i dont particularly like the lc/lj ones, they seem to be soft, even tho we tell customers please dont send us soft ones,

if you fit a cover thats tight then is bows the visors..

i probably could get the ribbed vinyl but the cost outways the product, like you could get them recoed or just find better ones..

yeah only hand stitching is the side that you can see... the last pic..

Nice work boomfunk, I did my brother-in-laws HQ ones and they were a bugger, I am still not happy and will probably redo them.
Did you run a stitch each side with the machine and hand sew them together?
