I am wondering if I am better off with my twin strombergs on my 202 or a 350 holley which is better with fuel economy & power, will I get decent economy from the strommies but still get some power from them?

I think if you get the twin strommies rebuilt and tuned they would be better than the 350 holley (just my opinion!) - maybe not as much top end as the 350 but still usuable power. :)

The economy on my mild 202 and 350 holley is crap a licious. I have high performance fuel usage, but no actual high performance. I should seriously scrap it, but I dont drive my car that often.

twin strommys should give better fuel distribution than a holley which is mounted closer to the middle ports and further away from the outer ports, so twin strommys should perform better, but i never actually tried them.

never liked the holley due to its regular need for tuning and thirst for liquid gold.

what about the ww2 stromy, very nice carby plus works nicely with the auto choke and good performance, never had a complaint about fuel useage

I like the WW2 - had one on a mild 186. Once it was rebuilt it gave reasonable economy and good performance.

I was gonna go the twin single barrel stombergs on the LJ, but in the end i went GRA carb. I don't know but i would go with the stombergs over the holley. Stombergs are damn easy to tune. :spoton:

easy to tune I like the sound of that, I had a 350 holley but it was very thirsty so bput on a 2 barrel rohester goes ok but I my new lx project car which I will be putting a v8 in has a 202 with twin strommies so I will be putting them on I think.

ive had both ww2 and twin strommys on red6's if i was you id just stick to the ww2, their easier to tune than twins because you dont have to balance them and id say that the ww2 gives good enough performance without using jags of fuel, when i had twins it went through more fuel than the ww2 and id say that it would only be VERY marginally better performance, maybe a weber would be another option...ive always wanted to try one out on a red6

ive heard you should never use 350 holleys on a holden 6.
multiple carbs are the go for an even distribution of fuel

and did the conlcusion of those discussions concur with why-psi's remarks? Maybe I'll save the 350 holley for the v8

toss the fuel leak in the bin (the 350)

use either the twin stommies or the WW Strommie. Much better choice on a 6.

i was going to put a 350 holley on my 6 but came across a set of twin stommies & got them rebuilt. Havent used them on yet but they will be fitted to a mild 202 and have been told they will go well by my engine builder.

EDIT - but obviously not as good as tripple SU's :spoton:

i had a 350 holley on my 202 was a bucket of crap. but a stromberg that we took off a ht prem but that on went very well with a good tune (dad had detuned the 202 so i couldnt be to silly in it) tried the 350 again prefesionally tuned and all that gear still a bucket of crap.

i dont think the old 350 vs other carbs threads ever came out with an answer poeple tend to like what they like and dont like what they dont like.

i came across a 2brl downdraft weber with mechanical secondaries, it was off a datsun 1600, made an adaptor plate to fit on the 186s manifold and found it really surprising how much performance it produced.

even better was that it ran around on the single throat 75% of the time until you put your foot down.

did nothing to the jets etc only tuned.

Another guy off here had a 2 litre Cortina Webber on his LC SL 161. It definately went harder, but he said it was never really right. I guess a dyno tune would have probably fixed it up.
