Blue 253 + T700?

Will the T700 with lock up torque convertor out of a VS (the one with its independant brain box) bolt up to a blue 253 in place of a trimatic. :unsure:

The 253 is a trimatic pattern so you will need a adapter plate to fit the turbo pattern bell housing

I thought I would need an adaptor but wasn't sure.

I need a bit better economy for the highway.

Adaptor plate or redrill the block to suit... Flexplate/converter may need spacing to mount up correctly. Also a T700 is fugging huge, check your trans tunnel clearance. Also need a new tailshaft, figure out something for the speedo drive, and have a diff ratio to match the speedo gear. The overdrive and lock up converter also rely on signals from the engine ECU (TPS and engine temp) without these it will cause dramas.

Honestly I'd use and 'early' auto from a VN-VP

I wanted to use the one with its own brain that is independant to the engine management system.

Regarding tunnel clearance its for a VH Commodore.

Hi James.

The VS auto doesn't have a separate brain, it's the same as any other VR- VY the engine computer & auto trans computer are one in the same.

You are better off using the VN/VQ/VG/VP TH700 with it's cable set-up.

Just one thing to add, the new VZ with the quad cam 'Alloytec' 3.6 uses the 4L60E (electronic TH700) in the lower spec models & it has a separate ECU for the auto. These are too new & I haven't done any conversion work with them yet, but in the future these may be the way to go.
