Does anyone know if there is someone making upper and lower tubular wishbones for an LJ front end? Or does anyone have a drawing or pattern that can be used to make them?

Cheers,

Darren

McDonald Bros racing are the only guys making these at the moment that I know of.

I am just about to get to that stage with my LX shortly so I will be making some enquiries myself but I will most likely make my own anyway as I tend to do things differently.

There is a market for these in conjuction with a front coil over conversion. The kicker is to find an engineer approved kit. But at the end of the day it's not rocket science, would'nt mind having a crack myself oneday.

Had an email from McDonald brothers this morning and they only do the upper arms at the moment as no one has asked for lower ones. The cost for the upper arms from McDonald Bros is AUD 700.00 for the pair. Expensive but how much of a change will it actually make to the front end?

Thats cool for me, i'm concerned about the strength issue with my modded uppers.
bloody exxy, but i've already cracked one and i've seen many torries limp off the track with collapsed uppers.

none if you can get the same settings you need from the factory ones.

Mine were cut to clear hq callipers, my old ones cracked where the arm meets the straight bar(if that makes any sense), so i got new one's made up but it's still a worry.

If it cracked there, it was possibly due to having too hard bushes in there, or ovetightening the nuts.

^ i think those are one step softer than running a solid bush.

i think in most cases you are better off running a rubber bush (unless it's a dedicated track car) and just replacing the bush when it wears rather than cracking and breaking components.

^I'm planning on not driving it on the street as much anymore but i might put rubber bushes in it anyway.
I seen an lj at a show once with a weld where i cracked my old one.
Thanks Chop and ALX, that makes sense.

tuf73 ^ when you install make sure you torque them up with the car at level driving height (bounce it a couple of times or even drive it around the block once) as tightening them with the car up (suspension at full drop) puts extra load on them.

I would put the cracking control arm down to using those bushes, more than overtightening the nuts. And follow ALX76's advice in tightening the buggers after installation.
