This car (altho a statesman, same principal as torana) was making that creaking sound especially when entering and exiting driveways for about 6 months untill i climbed under to check an oil leak for the owner. I immediatly condemed the car.
If you got some wierd sounds coming from your car PLEASE have it checked out top and bottom now.

If you click on the pic it will enlarge.
top pic is bottom wish bone floating in the breeze
bott pic (looking from the ground up) is crack migrating from spring tower to steering box (the crack is easily 10 inches long).

^ its a sickly feeling when your on your back looking up, wiping an oil leak and you look over and say "F#@% ME DRUNK Look at that, Your not driving this thing".
I myself had previously drove it too.

How did you do the pic thingy? Works well when you know how. That is a serious front end issue.

O.M.G. I've seen them crack, but never like that!
Is it a car that is always serviced on jack stands?
Amazing what can be found on a hoist that is missed on jack stands.

I use photobucket, at the bottom of each album you have there is a button that generates either a url or a pic or a clickable thumb.
I much prefer the clickable thumb as it saves space on the forum page for reading and you just click each photo as you want them.

That is absolutly crazy!

if anyone in WA is rebuilding their front end and wants it crack tested with magnetic partical inspection i can do it for you. Can also X-ray if you really wanted.

That's one damn huge crack. I take it being a stato, that chassis would be written off & just replaced? Most Hq-Wb's crack at some stage in their life don't they?

When i bought my Hz pano, first thing i did was pull the front end apart and check it for cracks in the chassis. Found 2 small cracks, and had them welded up by my g/f's bro, at the time i didn't own a welder. I do now. :spoton:

Cheers

I have an odd creakign sound in my LH, if i reverse then apply the brakes i here a grinding type sound, then when i hit D for drag and brake it happens again,
Sounds like the front spring is sliding forwards and back on the control arm, but no signs of damage or that happening.

Any ideas,

Cheers

Sounds like the caliper flexing.
