Hmmmm "does my butt look big in this" comes to mind :D

picked up this 2dr LJ for the crs chassis kit and nine inch thats under it to make the V8 conversion easier on the other 2 door that I had
("had" as its now being turned into a GTR look a like for surfmaster :D )

so that leaves me with this thing, I don't want to wreck it out as it has had a V8 in it (and was supposable registered with it) so the decision is.............

1. cut the gaurd off and replace with original looking gaurds etc. possible make a V8 gtr look a like out of it

2. reduce the size of the flares but leave them a custom shaped and stick some wide "bling" wheels under it,

3. leave them as they are and build a race car replica out of it

4. any suggestion that someone comes up with that sounds better than the above three :D

I also need to check with vicroads about its previous V8 rego before I do anything :D

Truth is I just wanted to post some pics of it so you could all see what some people thought was "cool" in the eighties  :D oh and the flares are done in steel  they are 265/50/14's tyres on the back.

so what do you think, ugly or what!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

lowered, some wide wheels (not exactly BIG BLNIG, but say 15 inch chromies with some phat rubber) nice coat of paint (darker colour may make the flairs less obvious) and away you go. keep it as is, there wouldnt be a whole lot of em around like that :spoton:

Yep it's unique, drop it down on some low profile tyres, tuff V8 and rip it up.

I'd try and pickup a 4cyl body and use it as a donor to return the wheel arches to standard......

A replica racecar is a popular choice but still an expensive commitment but returning the arches back to original is still the cheapest option and any possible sale in the future will be not subject to personal taste, not to mention it would look better with standard arches and give you more options on which style to build it.

I have thought of making a road going version of the HDT torry pictured on pg 32 of the latest AMC :spoton:

but I wont be keeping it  the SLR 5000 arrived 2 days after the LJ, and it has gone "straight to the pool room " so to speak :D ,
and all other torana's are being kulled around here to fund its resto :spoton:

so for easier/better? resale I'll probably remove the flares and make a V8 powered GTR mock-up out of it,
at least there's no hurry as there is surfmasters one to do first :D

keep the suggestions coming guys :spoton:

hmmm I reckon I could make one of those fibreglass heads and I like red, now that would increase its value :spoton:

..................and yes it does look like a monstor truck atm, there's no running gear in it :D , those front wheels are 13"

Get a 4cyl body, use the wheelarches off it to bring it back to standard I reckon & while you're doing that mini-tub it.

First thing I would do, is check if it has had V8 rego on it before. If yes then...

Leave the flares cause its pretty finicky "fixing" the guards from what I heard.

V8, put fat wheels and drive it!

If no..

Wreck it out for your other 2 door, put "stock" parts on it, then sell it to someone who likes flares as a rolling shell...

G'day MYLJ,
Just a thought..without undertaking the huge job of replacing the wheel arches, you may be able to trim the flared section back some, and then fit an LH/LX flare kit over the top. Not my preference, but could work!! Some nice rims/paint/V8......maybe??
I've seen a few LC/J's that look pretty good with the LH/X flares,like evilsim's green lj. :D

I believe he drove a yellow Zupps LC, though that doesn't mean he didn't drive LJ too.
