According to Castrol 2.3 litres for a 9" in a XY GT.

If you have an LSD make sure you use the correct oil.

There are different style 9" housings and I am fairly sure these have differing oil capacities.

On the passengers side of the case there is a filler plug, fill till oil starts to drain back out.
It can be undone with a 3/8 ratchet and extension bar, NO SOCKET req.
You will find 2ltrs will only fill to the bottom main cap bolt, a little more oil would be better. Submerge those bearings.
Ive got a 1" filler plug in my housing so i can see inside :D

no plugs on mine, its a brand new housing... there is a weird thing ontop of the diff maybe it is a filler, will have to chek that out for that extra 0.1-0.3L.

its got 2L in there now and both axels are in for life.

upgrading aswell 253toranass? how many bango's you blow up?

iv never blown a diff in my life.. trusty uc diffs :spoton:

As v8slrtorana pointed out there is a filler plug on the passenger side of the 9" centre ( not the housing). The diff is full when oil reaches the filler plug.

Mine takes 2.5litres. It is what they call a broadshoulder 9 inch and oil level is just over the axle tubes.

ummmm 1,2,3,4,5 (three of them went bang, the other two i changed just to get better ratios)

That wasnt even from driving it hard, i am a pussy when it comes to sticking the foot down.

They dont have a drain plug as standard.
If yours has a drain plug, then your lucky as someone has installed one.
No drain plug, you have to undo all the bolts, yarda, yarda, yarda!
Or try a vacumm pump to remove the oil.
