Yes you can.

Consider trimming the lip on the front rails (to provide header clearance) & trimming clearance for the distributor against the firewall (small cap only).

Worthwhile additions are 3mm stitch welded plating on the inside of the front rails and subframe connectors. I have a few pics of these mods on my site.

I retained the original engine mount position. I did add a limiter to the passenger side engine mount to restrict engine movement.

if your going for big horsepower an engine plate would be a good idea. Even being a drag car could you remove the inner guards to provide more clearence for the pipes and make some more room for yourself. im guessing sparkplug changes and checks would become alot eaiser.

inner guards are going. had'nt thought seriosly about an engine plate untill we went for a full chassi car in the future ,going from super street to super sedan. At this stage i can do the conversion pretty much myself but to go to engine plate i need to find chassi builder to do the conversion properly. I can't really justify the cost now and again later when we go to a full chassi

Why are you switching from a small block to a big block just to move up to super sedan ?

the reason to go from sbc to bbc now while we are still competing in super street is the monie we would spend on upgrading the sbc to be able to run in the 11"s against running a fairly stock bbc and know that we can run these no's consistantly without hurting the motor makes sense to me. we then have the bbc which then only needs upgrading to run good no's in super sedan. The gearbox and diff at this stage will still handle 500-600 hp. keeping in mind we only need 400-450 hp at this stage to run 11's Not only that we have a complete top end to suit a bbc in the shed that was running on a 600 hp bbc dying to use it

Yep go the big block, before my LC i had a 454 LS6 bigblock in a HT Monaro, strickly for drag racing, fiberglass doors & front clip the engine still had the dual plain manifold 850dp holley carb, factory spec cam and it still ran 10.65 @ 127 with a 2 spd & 4.11, 6800rpm across the finish line
