Best bet is to make one, or even better, build it into your fuel tank.. :D

Cheers

PS: When designing the tank it is better to run teh return to the pot, that way if the tank does suck air you have at least 2 minutes of runnign before the car stops...

You should always run the return into the swirl pot,you need to keep it as full as possible.
You then have an overflow fitting on the top of the pot which runs back to the fuel tank, as you can not build up pressure in the pot.

Fuel tank? Don't have room for one of those. Need the room for the subbies.

With EFI cars, when the tank gets lows, the engine can cut out momentarily when cornering. This is because the fuel pickup in the tank gets exposed to air. The EFI pump can't pump air very well. The swirl pot ( or surge tank ) is a reservoir between the tank and pump to help avoid that happening.

I bought one from Hardcore Racing Components for $90 on sale. It's fairly big, I might need to have about 100mm taken out of the height of it so it doesn't get ripped off by a speed bump. <_<

What happens is a low pressure (carby style) fuel pump like a Holley red or blue sucks fuel from the fuel tank and pumps the fuel straight into the surge tank. Then you have your one or two (or more!) EFI pumps drawing the fuel out of the surge tank and to your fuel rail. It's got an overflow hole up top so if it gets overfull it just dumps back into the fuel tank. Mine will be mounted upside down under the boot of my LJ to the passenger side (exhaust on the other side).

how do we set these up for carbs?? just have a low pressure eleci pump pumping into it, return line back from the surge tank to the fuel tank incase it fills up, then fuel lines going to the motor???

Shouldn't really need them for a carby motor, as the carb has a reserve tank in it already.

In that case, you may as well set it up properly now. No point doing it twice.

May aswell...

Got any ideas about where you're going to mount it?

As the drag UC doesn't require the charcol cannister, I'm mounting it in there. There should be enough room to get one made that will hold 2 litres of fuel. The bracket is already made, there's a hole in the panel directly beneath it for the outlet and it's close to the engine. What more do you want?
