This is my lc so far. There is a 65-70mm band which is over lapped by 20mm each side, then will be stiched welded in. Going to have tub welded in this week. Done all myself so far. A mate is going to weld it for me. Then i will make other fill-in bits and have them tig welded for a better and nicer job. Engineer came for a look 2wks ago and liked :spoton:

what have you done to the front section lakeside??

from my experience theres more of a problem to the front of the wheel arch then the back...

i depends if you just want width or you want height and width.
to me small diameter wide tyres look dicky, i prefer a nice tall wide tyre but thet involves the complete removal of the original tub and lengthening of the guards.
its a big job but nothing else looks as tough

I was told that that was called 'square shouldering' of the std tubs lakeside.

coolpix: Do you have a certain size wheel & tyre/diameter that you want to run & for what purposes do you want to use the car for as it can save you money if don't need coil-overs.

I would love to know how much it would cost to get some mini-tubs done or could they be done at home? i have some handy mate what is involved in doing this? and maybe even shortening a nine inch is there much involved? thanks alot guys you have been great

Nine inch go to a proper place other than the backyard....Other than the fact they have jigs and what not to set up the brackets....
I had 265s on mine with the way lakeside is doing..im sure i could nearly have fitted a 275...

Seeing as the mini tub question comes up alot does anyone want me to transfer an article from a torana magazine i have to a webpage. It details how to mini tub as done by Andrews Race cars. Some of you guys may have read it before.

With the right offset rim and a little shorter diff a 235 would be no prob for a standard tub

ok great i was just thinking 235-245 for the fact i didnt really know how big you could go. 265-275 is even better. do you have a shortened diff and coil overs to achive this width? that would be fantastic is you could post that artical im sure you would be helping lot of people not just myself. cheers

With the coil-overs its said that they cant enter into the boot unless the are boxed in & fully sealed,I have mine mounted underneath just in case. The problem with 6pt cages is they want to make the car registered as a '2 seater' & the front cage must meet clearance & visual requirements which is pretty hard, almost impossible in a lil torry.

How fast can you go at WSID with a 4 point cage?

I remember reading that DWILZ wth the v6 twin turbo vs was allowed to run 10's with a bolt in 6 point bolt in cage done by Mood Motorsports, after it ran 9's he had to have it welded in.Think he got permiision through andra first.

sorry to bring this up again, i did a quick mod to my car today that will help with fitting slighty larger tyres. i noticed the first thing that seems to cause a problem is the mount for the seat belt, so i moved it:

https://cache.gmh-to...ltmountmod1.jpg
start

https://cache.gmh-to...ltmountmod2.jpg
drill spot welds and used a coal chisel to remove it.

https://cache.gmh-to...ltmountmod3.jpg
large hole i had after last step

https://cache.gmh-to...ltmountmod4.jpg
and finnished product, plate over large hole i made with the chisel, and origional belt mount relocated to the front of the wheel arch where it wont cause any dramas wtih the 235/60/14's i'll be running.

hope this helps someone :P
