I found this PDF on the Lincoln SP170 Mig welder. My question is, where would be the cheapest place to get one in Melbourne? Ditto for the gas cylinder.

I'm just going off what others have posted. It seemed to be the most popular.

Once I pick up my UC ( couple of weeks I hope ), install the LPG system that's sitting in my garage and get the $2K rebate, then I'll have some cash for a welder. I just prefer to get things organised well in advance. Except for paying tax bills.

Yeah i understand going on what is popular, both are very good machines. From working in the industry i have found WIA to be a lot better in helping guys out after sales for service and setting machines up. I sold a Miller ac/dc tig machine to a guy in diggers rest in january and the rep was then to unload and install the machine with us getting his hands dity. We sell both machines and i have used both machines. i find the WIA machine gives a better wire feed through the gun and liner. will also handle doing other metals far better, trust me you cant go past a WIA machine
cheers

We have every different variety at work , and i have also owned many migomags and never had any trouble but with the way some people play with them and overload them , you can kill anything if you try , but i would agree a wia or a lincoln i use both , and good for home use , TREX

Yeah WIA make good stuff, very reliable and consistent. I've used WIA, CIG, Migomag and yeah WIA comes out on top. You pay a little more but it's worth it.
