Hey guys I have just welded in the replacement panels of the front lower guards, obviously when welding it leaves a bead of weld which needs to be grinded back, what is the best way to grind this back to leave a nice finish, without making gauges, a grinding wheel will leave gauges so I wont use that. Would a sanding disk on the angle grinder be ok??
I know its a bit of a silly question and logic should prevail but I would like to know the best option and advice from you guys who are experienced in doing this.
Thanks guys

Rough it down with the grinding wheel first, work along the length of the weld NOT across it, pull the grinder towards you in a wipeing type action( don't put to much weight on it) rather then pushing it away from you(less change of it biteing in) if that makes sense.
Work a bit in different areas,so heat doesn't build up in a small area. Take the weld down so its just proud of the parent metal, then use a sanding type disc, again working lengthways to the weld till its where you want it. I would use a rough type sanding disc so it doesn't polish the metal smooth. If the area's is feeling hot stop for awhile and let it cool.
Just what I do thats all.

A thing called a flap disc is the go...but grinding disc used as stated above will suffice.
