hi ya,

what will i use for extractors and tail pipes. tail pipes have minor surface rust, extractors r heat affected with surface rust bit no pitting.

The only real product you will be able to use is stove pot belly black. this is the onyl thing that will stand up to the heat for extend preiod of time. I ahve used the coloured "exhuast paint" you get but have been disappointed in the preformance after being heated an cooled for periods (3 months etc).

Your other option would be HPC. they can coat the pipes with a ceramic and it will come out minty. I prefer the colours rather than teh chrome appearance as this does blue slightly after so use (still looks mint)

Cheers

if u get a plain high temp matt black or something is should stay roughly the same colour, i have dont it on my pipes and dont really have a prob, the more glossy high temp paints do seem to loose there shine pretty quicky, and as tim said the HPC coating stuff does work a treat, but it would prob cost more than ruby all together!

Funnily enough when I spoke to the Summernats judges - after the event... They suggested stove pipe black to me too... Most other products will fade away and look shit.. Not sure how long stove pipe black stays black for but I recalll seeing many black stoves as a kid. remember I am 58 yrs young....

Correct, we use the stuff on aerochutes (other hobby.. :D) and have never had a problem. When we do the 6 month service we coat again (nbot that it really needs it) and have never had an issue. it just looks clean when black...

I painted my last extractors with matt black heat proof paint from supercheap. After a few runs it was fading. The same extractors are now on my mates torry and you'd never have thought they were once painted...

So I'm going HPC next time.

i did the manifold on the GTR with pot belly
black around a year ago, it goes a nice grey
colour when it's been heated, i blasted them
before painting to remove rust etc, then did a
pre bake in an old oven after i'd sprayed them
here's a pic
