I think you have to hack the firewall to fit it in..

Just put a 5L in there and be done with it.

(not biased to V8's)

If you are in Sydney talk to Geoff McNiff from St Marys Engine Services - he puts Hemi 6's in all sort of things and has been doing it for years. Was putting these in LC/LJ's in the very early 80's.

A reasonably stock 265 with a cam/Holley/extractors will go REAL good in a Torana.

Talk to this guy, he knows his 265's.

I've driven an E49 (factory 300HP) and E38 (factory 280HP) recently and these engines go hard. Easily more power than a Holden 6 (that'll cause trouble :<_<: )

This is the E38 (280HP) that I drove.

The 265 is a few (3"?) longer than the red motor so does need firewall mods.

Have fun!!

You can buy the carb kits complete off ePay for around $3K. You can even buy engines to E49+ specs for around $5K.

300HP+ for 8K - bargain :-)

I recently sold my E38 Charger, same as the one in CraigA's photo - they do go hard with those Webers. The sound is also something else. Genuine R/T Webers (if you can find them) are now up around the $5K to $6K area, maybe more. They have additional air bleed ports. However, you can buy the generic ones for at least half of that. It shouldn't really matter what model the 265 block is from, if you are going to work it over. The E38 and E49 blocks were different internally, but the last E38 basic block that I am aware of to sell went for $14K, and that was a while back. (Also, Centuras were only available in 245). It might be worth talking to a few of the Valiant blokes before you hand money over for 'E49 spec' engines and carbie sets from just anyone too. Cheers.

i recently sold my 400+hp hemi6 and sum more info for you incase you want or need it.

torqueflite,s are not a bolt up swap, the block needs to be drilled and the area where the starter goes needs to be ground down to suit unless you can find a torquflite pattern block which are like rocking horse shite.

bw35 auto,s will blow up at even mild engine mods

borgwarner 4 speeds similar to xb,s just different input shaft size are a bolt up fit and can take most a hemi can throw at them if there in good condition to start with.
