as far as the holden 6 goes, which is the most ideal version of the WW stromberg?

As far as I know there are the 3 common ones, the HT/HG one, the HQ one and then the most modern one from the HZ and commodore.

Correct me if I'm wrong but the ones beyond the HT/HG all have pollution gear ... is any of this a drama for my LC with a 202?

I'm looking for the easiest and most straightforward installation and curious if any of this pollution stuff would be of any impact so any input would be greatly appreciated.

ED: also a question about the jets ... how important is it to have the 253 WW's jetted down to the smaller size? If so is this a simple item to find?

Hi, I have had a couple of HR 186S cars with the WW fitted. I would suggest do not get a 253 one. Its not worth the trouble to be running it on a 6. Get the later HG type as they have an extra progressive metering hole from idle through. It gives you a much better even power.

The old HR one does not have this and on some applications, on an original WW HR you can get a slight hesitation on full throttle opening from a standing start. On a HR you cannot get a fully open throttle as the factory arm from the fire wall does not allow it. A holden mistake. So the full potential from a HR WW application is not fully explored. Thats why the old X2 (twin, single stommys) application was still slightly quicker than the improved WW engine.

A well tuned, warm 186 will run a WW with no problems and will give you good performance. Both my cars would still do the old ton.

The jet size has been posted before, a long time ago though. I have the list but on the other computer. I will post it after Mrs RoDoMo goes to work. The jets are bigger for 186s than 253 according to the info I have.

idle discharge hole sizes leave alone! (pre-drilled in carby body)

can someone please please PLEASE write up or scan the part numbers for all 6 cyl ww2 carbys, and a quick description of the differences regarding poloution controls. people ask this question every couple of months and we only ever get small sections of the list, it would really make the whole process easier. i have looked in the local library for the book but they dont have it.

ah, fantastic ... so going by what you've both said here the jet size is quite important.

So going with a WW from an HG you say? Is it possible to get one of these from a 253 then just have it modified to be similar to the 186S style?

There seems to be a few places that sell these carbys reconditioned but they are suited to the 253 so I'm wondering how simple it would be to purchase one of these and just have them changed and if so is it worth it?

Best thing to do would be to ring a carby/performance workshop and ask.
A WW2 on your engine would perhaps need "special" jetting.

Steve is right ... To get a 253 carb to run on a six involves quiet a bit of modification. I have recently been through this saga and I have just got the car back on the road.
The 253 version will need extra metering holes drilled into it to work on a six, as well as being re-jetted. After dyno work in runs great now, but before these mod's were done it had massive flat spots.
If you have got a 253 carb, be prepared to spend some dollars on it to get it to run right.....
